Letter about my pasture walk
Last week I had the opportunity to host a pasture walk on my farm, where farmers and other people gathered to take a walk thru my pastures and comment on what they saw. It's a great chance for people to talk about different kinds of farming, and for me to get fresh eyes and perspectives on what I'm doing. Friday, August 27, 2010 |

Letter in response to the August 23 letter
Wrong in so many ways.
This is my response to the letter to the editor on August 23 naming me as Greg Davids Campaign Manager. The only thing I can say is that's a lie! I am happy to see the newspaper did their job and had the lie exposed by printing the facts at the bottom of the page. Further more, I never wrote, as she put it, "the day in question" about Ropes not being at our parade. I never wrote a specific date or even mentioned a parade. Friday, August 27, 2010 |

Letter about Senator Ropes
To the Editor,
Ropes does a great job
I saw a letter in the papers that sarcastically criticized our state senator, Sharon Erickson Ropes, because she took some time off during the summer to be with her family and to travel. I decided to say something because I think that criticism was unfounded, and unfair. Friday, August 20, 2010 |

Letter about Deb Carlson's letter...
I read Deb Carlson's letter about Sharon Ropes a couple of weeks ago and it really angers me is when someone writes a letter to the editor and asks, "Where was Sharon Ropes" because she wasn't at some parade and I find out that this person is the campaign manager for Greg Davids. Letter about toxic tatties
I've eaten potatoes all my life: mashed potatoes, potato salad, baked potatoes, fries...they are more American than apple pie. But, after reading "Toxic Tatties" in New Scientist (9/4/2004), I intend to avoid potatoes unless they have been harvested and stored properly. Friday, August 06, 2010 |

Letter in response to dogs in Spring Valley
This is a response to Gary Peterson's editorial in last week's FCJ. This problem has been going on for over 10 years in Spring Valley. In 1999-2000, a council member's dog was running loose all the time in our neighborhood. Friday, August 06, 2010 |

Letter about the fair board
Kudos to Fair Board!
I wish to commend the fair board for scheduling the rock tribute band, the Arch Allies, for this year's Friday evening (July 23rd) at the Fillmore County Fair. The Arch Allies entertained far too few attendees with three sets of highly professional, classy and entertaining rock/ rock ballad classics by Styx, Journey, and REO Speedwagon. Letter about Senator Ropes
Where in the World is Senator Ropes? With a budget crisis looming, a lack of job creation, and less than 100 days from the general election, one would expect elected officials to be out in the community listening to their constituents' concerns and ideas. Friday, July 30, 2010 |

Letter about re-electing Ann Lynch
Over the past four years, Senator Ann Lynch has worked hard to improve things for Chatfield in the State Legislature. It would be in our interest to keep her there working for us. Friday, July 23, 2010 |

Letter about the whiskey rebellion and us
Facing the huge deficits that we are today made me think of my American history. There was another time when we faced enormous deficits--the whiskey insurrection arose from a 1791 excise tax on whiskey. It was levied by Alexandra Hamilton's Federalist Party to pay for an enormous national debt of $78 Million. Friday, July 23, 2010 |
